David M is an advisor who loves helping students and parents on the admissions journey. He has been a journalist and teacher as well as a writing coach for CEOs. He covered education as a staff reporter for U.S. News magazine, the Boston Globe, and Newsday.
David shared the Pulitzer Prize for a series about violence against women. David wrote the book about college admissions — literally. Acceptance (Penguin Press) chronicles two years of a remarkable high school counselor working with seven applicants. Dave also wrote a book about struggling teens, What It Takes to Pull Me Through (Houghton Mifflin). He has appeared on the Today show and NPR. He speaks about education at conferences, schools, and churches across the U.S. and in Mexico. An honors graduate of Brown University, he also studied at Universidad de Los Andes, in Colombia. He was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard. He maintains that his life-changing education came while learning Spanish at a community college.
