Tyson is an experienced educator with over 25 years of teaching high school social studies, Advanced Placement courses, and mathematics through AB Calculus. He specializes in AP Economics, AP European History, and AP Capstone courses, emphasizing critical thinking, research, and analytical writing. As a former instructional coach, Tyson collaborated with faculty to enhance teaching strategies and student engagement using the Cognitive Coaching model. In addition to his teaching, Tyson authored the AP Economics All Access test preparation book and contributed to AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics resources. He also served as a consultant for American College Testing (ACT), assisting in the development of rigorous curriculum materials in economics, government, and U.S. history. Although Tyson's days of competitive frisbee are now a memory, he is an avid endurance gravel cyclist and is learning tennis. He has two teenage daughters and spends much of his time supporting their activities, including band, jiujitsu, fencing, piano, and mock trial.
